Bar Association Jammu (BAJ) and civil society members today honoured Eminent Ghandhian and president Ghandhian Global Family Padamshree S P Verma for spreading the message of peace in the country.
Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad is the president and Padamshree S Verma is vice president of Ghandhian Global Family.
Sh. Verma has been associated with the Gandhi Global family 1990, during peak militancy in J&K. Bar Association Jammu, today organized a function at High Court complex Jammu to honour Padamshree S P Verma who had been felicitated with this award.
Bar appreciated the role of S.P Verma in spreading the Gandhain ideology to foster communal harmony among all the religions, caste and creed. President of bar Association B S Salathia, Advocate General D C Raina, Advocate, B.S manhas highlighted the services of Verma. Meanwhile, civil society members honoured Padamshree S P Verma at a well organized ceremony at Hari Niwas Jammu hoisted by Subash Vohra Chairman YHAI Jammu.
On the occasion, M.S Pandit ,Kh. Farooq Renzushah, S. Surrinder singh, R.L Bakshi, Dr. Taran Singh, Sh. Janak Raj Gupta, S. Kirtan Singh, Dr. Ashwani Jojra, Ab. A brief on Padmashree S P Varma Noted Gandhian and Vice President of Gandhi Global Family –
The President of India has approved the conferment of Padma Awards-2012 to noted Gandhian and Social Worker, S P Varma, the son of the soil.
This year the President has approved 109 awards including five Padma Vibhushan, 27 Padma Bhushan and 77 Padma Shri Awards. There are 19 women among the awardees.
Padma Awards, the country’s highest civilian awards, are conferred in three categories, namely, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri. The Awards are given in all disciplines/ fields of activities, viz. art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, civil service, etc. ‘Padma Vibhushan’ is awarded for exceptional and distinguished service; ‘Padma Bhushan’ for distinguished service of high order and ‘Padma Shri’ for distinguished service in any field. The awards are announced on the occasion of Republic Day every year.
Mr Varma Vice President of Gandhian Global Family has served member J&K Commission for backward classes and member J&K State Council on Climate change. He organized a number of Sadbhavana Yatras and All Indian Gandhian Workers National Samelan, arranged and distributed relief material for earthquake victims, national integration camps, celebrating Gandhi Jayanti at Srinagar and Observing Martyrs Day at Dewan-e-Aam Mubarak Mandi Jammu.
