Gandhi Global Family on mission to spread Gandhian Principle and work for Non Violence and Peace in the Nation reached to Arunachal for a series of efforts in this direction, its Vice President and who recently was facilitated by President of India Smt Pratiba Patil with Padma Shri Award lead the Parikarma with GGF executive member Rajender Reddy from Hyderabad. ITANAGAR, Apr 24: Mahatma Gandhi is alive in Arunachal Pradesh… amidst the people… in every home, their culture, lifestyle, religion, agriculture practice, said noted Gandhian S P Varma and G Rajendran Reddy.
Varma, a Padmashree awardee and vice president of Gandhi Global Family (GGF) and Reddy, an executive member of GGF, arrived here today in the 3rd leg of Gandhian Parikrama to preach and spread the values of Gandhian philosophy across the nation.
“The relevance of non-violence and peace holds ground more today with the global community fast realizing that nothing could be achieved through violence and its relevance increasing globally with every passing day, Verma said in an exclusive interview to this daily today.The Parikrama began 2½ years ago to create mass awareness against social evils and social justice to prevail for all from Kanyakumari on Oct 17, 2010, the birthday of GGF founder Dr. Nirmala Deshpandey, has so far covered 70,000 km from Easternghat to Jammu and Kashmir to Kanyakumari in the first phase.
The second phase began from Reddy’s native place Hyderabad to Bhubneshwar–Kolkata-Siliguri-Assam (Guwahati)-Nagaland-Manipur-Mizoram-Meghalaya-Tripura, last year which could not be extended to Arunachal because of ‘critical instability’.
However, aimed at covering 1 lakh km, the Parikrama would cover Sikkim, Lakshadeep, Bihar, Jharkhand, Goa and Puddichery, Varma informed.
We, being the inheritor of father of the nation, should be proud and spread his message from grassroot to highest level for disseminating it in right perspective for its adoption and practice at all level, he added.
‘During our week-long stay we would attend Jangandhian sammelan at Arunachal Pradesh Science Centre at 10 am tomorrow, which would include a Gandhi quiz involving school students, a symposium ‘Truth and non-violence’ to spread Gandhian ideology among five categories (Classes 6-8, 9-10, 11-12, Collegians and University) and the toppers of each category would be given cash prize while on Apr 27 the GGF would confer Mahatma Gandhi Seva Award, the highest Gandhi award at a function at Raj Bhawan here on Governor JJ Singh, in recognition of his invaluable service to the nation as Chief of Army staff following the avowed principle of “Velvet gloves for the civilians” and “iron fist for the terrorist” .A national/patriotic song competition followed by interaction with the civil society on the success stories of NGOs following Gandhian principle would be held at the same venue for which right from top leaders to NGO representative are welcome to attend.
