Law Minister Salman Khurshid was today caught in a raging controversy over his promise for nine per cent sub-quota for backward Muslims.
The BJP complained to the Election Commission following which it slapped a showcause notice on his wife, a Congress candidate in Farrukhabad Assembly consituency in Uttar Pradesh.
A BJP delegation headed by Mukhtar Abnbas Naqvi, MP, met Chief Election Commissioner S Y Quraishi and demanded action against Khurshid for making the promise at an election meeting in support of his wife, Louise, accusing him of violating the model code of conduct and the Constitution.
Naqvi said seeking votes in the name of religion was a violation of election laws. What an irony, who is speaking BJP National Vice President a good friend of mine, I am surprised by his stand “Seeking votes in the name of Religion” What has BJP done since it was formed, all that it has done is dividing Indians on the basis of Religions, polarizing masses by inciting communal sentiments pitching one against another, on the issue of Mandir and Masjid.
However, Khurshid rejected charges against him claiming he was only referring to the party’s election manifesto while campaigning for Louise.
The minister hit back at BJP saying the party was following double standards because it uses as a poll plank the promise to construct a Ram temple.
Acting on the BJP’s complaint and taking cognisance of the Law Minister’s promise, the election authorities served a showcause to his wife, asking her to explain within three days the statements made by her husband while campaigning in her favour.
Farrukhabad District Electoral Officer Sachchidanand Dubey told PTI that “a showcause notice has been served on Louise Khurshid by the returning officer for Farrukhabad Assembly constituency Ashok Kumar Lal”.
The Law minister while campaigning in Farrukhabad had on Sunday promised to the electorate that if Congress is voted to power in the state it would enhance the sub-quota to Muslims to 9 per cent within the 27 per cent quota for Other Backward Classes (OBCs).
Congress spokesman Rashid Alvi, who faced a volley of questions from the media over the showcause notice said the Election Commission is a Constitutional body and the party respected its decision.
The Congress party in its manifesto for the 2009 Lok Sabha elections had promised to give reservation to backward Muslims and implement the Sachar Committee report and the Ranganath Mishra Committee report on minorities.
I am happy to know Salman Khurshid has mentioned Congress has promissed in 2009 Elections Manifesto to implement Sachar Committee Report and Ranganth Mishra Committee Recommendations.
But then why not table the Ranganath Mishra Commission Report in Parliament and get it passed. Instead of hitting in the bushes and disturbing and giving reason to the other OBC’s complaining t of tampering in to there rights. As BJP fears may create though this all can be debated may carry bad taste for the remaining OBC’s.
Naqvi said today: “The Congress is trying to create communal tension in Uttar Pradesh and the country by announcing an increase in the sub-quota for Muslims. The announcement made by the Law minister is in violation of the model code of conduct and is unconstitutional, he said.
Now that the Congress the main rival for BJP is showing wisdom and realizing or if I may put it, knows well it is the Muslim Vote that counts most for Congress if it wants to remain in the game of politics in UP or in many other states and in the count.
Muslims are the best section of the Indian Nation is traditional loyalty of it enjoyed for most of the period since Independence, till the time Congress mis handled the Babri Issue and had failed to protect Babri Masjid in Ayodha in UP in 1991.
Times changed for Congress only after Babri Demolish-en and the people who did the politics of Religion and were instrumental in its demolishen were BJP and its Leaders who even today are faced with cases in respect of Babri Demolish-en.
“We will not allow anyone to snatch or grab the rights of the backward classes. BJP will not allow the Congress or BSP to play the caste card and try to divide the people on the basis of caste and religion.”
Khurshid rejected BJP’s charge saying such a scheme has already been implemented in Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh.
“It means we should not bring out a manifesto, not deliver a speech and sit back at home and elections should be held without all these… They can talk of building a Ram temple and we are only referring to a provision which is already there,” Khurshid said.
My fear is will this just be a lip service or will it be implemented with equal zeal and passion to make sure the backward in the Muslim Minorities get full benifit of such guidlines if the Congress Comes in to power. The big question is will Congress come to power in UP, this is like asking for moon in day light.
One point is clear, it is Muslims who have got the most in bargain this time around, they did not take to streets, they did not threaten the political parties they sent a message in silence loud and clear if the Political parties do not give them their due they will convert victory in to defeats for them.
Has Salman shot a calculative move to bring about what ever possible advantage for her loving wife Lousie in Farukhabad in UP and to the give value to boost Rahul Campaign as a loyal Solider to the Gandhi Family and Congress or Salman seriously expects miracle will happen and Congress will emerge as a single largest party in UP and lead a Govt with the support of SP or BSP and RLD. Sounds little absurd but we never know miracles do happen.

Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi on Thursday wrote to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh demanding that Governor Kamla Beniwal be recalled over her controversial appointment of Lokayukta bypassing the state government. Following up on the demand by the BJP central leadership that the Governor be recalled, Modi in the strongly worded letter to the prime minister also demanded that the Lokayukta appointment be annulled.
Modi said the Governor has “wrongly appropriated” the function of the duly elected State Government which is a “major subversion” of the Constitution of India.
The letter came against the backdrop of the Governor appointing justice R A Mehta as Gujarat Lokayukta bypassing the BJP government last week. The post has been lying vacant for the last seven and half years.
“Governor of Gujarat in collusion with the Leader of Opposition issued Warrant of Appointment of a person who has been participating in quasi-political activities and campaigning against the State Government, as Lokayukta of the State without the advice of Council of Ministers,” Modi said. The question faced today by the Nation is how will we bring back the lost glory of our ethical and moral value system that we enjoyed and inherited in the past ages from our forefathers and the cultural gurus and protectors of the moral schools in our part of the World.
Who is really to be blamed for the abuse and misuse of power, contact and money in the case of Ruchika, she gave her life not withstanding the agony and failure to beat the system and power of a ruthless and manipulative powerful officer on duty Rathode.
She suffered three years of unbearable agony and abuse, with her family shattered and fragmented, asking for justice running from pillar to post, the several social and community bodies supporting her and raising her plea with the authorities of the time failing to get speedy justice for her and her family.
If this is case with the victim supported advocated so strongly gets raw deal by our system, then we know what will the fate of the thousands out there struggling for justice in some form or the other in our wide nation.
The root to this is deeper, the society we are in today is to be blamed, our ethical and moral system has suffered most, we the people are not truly concern about what happens around us, we are not ready to challenge the system most of the time we surrender to the system run by the powerful and wealthy, surrendering this will not change and nothing can be done to it, we shelve our thoughts and get along with our routine.
We need to inculcate, values, respect our being human beings, and learn to grow as good sensible, and protective people who can raise to the occasions and be brave and assertive to drive fear in the detractors, and manipulators of law, and degrades of our society.
We have bad to very bad examples to be worried about, we are see and hearing every day on our neighbourhood, in our city, in our print and electronic media. The lessons are not learned it is apparent.
How many more Ruchikas and families like her, need to pay the price and suffer before the system changes.
Who are the real culprits. Can we say we are not part of the problem, with great concern for our future as a nation, I am afraid we can’t.

The Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy camp for the last three weeks demanding his appointment as Andhra Pradesh chief minister in place of his father, the late Y.S. Rajaseker Reddy. On the other hand An unnerved current CM K. Rosaiah insists he will continue in office.
“I am not a stop-gap chief minister. I have been appointed as full-fledged chief minister by the Congress high command. In fact, there is no such thing as interim CM or caretaker CM in the Constitution. I am here to stay in this post as long as the high command wants me,” Rosaiah said.
Lakhs attend meeting of Jagan Meeting
He dismissed a 1,00,000-strong public meeting Jagan held near Pavuralagutta in the Nallamalla forests on Friday. “Jagan’s show of strength is obviously an attempt to lobby with the high command for the chief minister’s post. In a democracy, there is nothing wrong in having high ambitions… (but) I am not worried about it,” he said.
“Many ministers and MLAs feel that Jaganmohan should take over as the next chief minister. He was elected by the people of Kadapa for the Lok Sabha. Their mandate is that he should be an MP. He is still young and has a long way to go,” he said.

He is not a big aspirer of power neither he believes in groupism, he is just a obedient worker of the Congress Party and he will be in Power as long as the high command wants him.
Jagan Mohan Reddy’s Base is whole of AP and its People. Don’t restrict him to a Region alone it will be unjust.
Saying so it is also to be understood as along as he is in seat of CM he will do his job with full commitment and responsibility. He will do his best to maintain the momentum set by YSR and his Vision. As far as Jagan Mohan Reddy is concerned he does not need to prove his support thur rallies as his base is the whole of Andhra if we say he is based in idumalaiaya in Cuddapah dist. it will be an embarrassment for Jagan.

YSR’s sudden exit is a very unfortunate thing that has happen to the state of AP. There are infinite issues that are in focus for the high command for consideration to keep AP on the same footing as it was kept by YSR.
Jagan is material for CM’post the question is when. This is a million dollar question which can be answered only by high command and the core committee, congress will not like to put Jagan on loose footing when he take over he has to be for a long innings and free from any resistance and discomfort because it will be a opportunity lost if his timing is not set properly.

Jagan is Sure to be CM of AP Only Time will answer when. It will be wrong to see Roashiah as a Resistance to Jagan. This will not be good for AP. and the Congress Party. Roshiah has clearly said he will be in the post of CM till the High Command wants him to be, he is not going to challenge the decision of Sonia Gandhi. The worst and greatest disrespect to the services of YSR would be if Congress Divides and forms groups on issue of Sucession. Every single congressmen today should be cautious in this respect. State to Set up 350 Crore Memorial of YSR at Accident Site.
We should know that it is the govt of Roashiah which with the Tourism Minister Geeta Reddy in Co ordination with Jagam Mohan Reddy is at the verge of announcing a 350 cr. Memorial of YSR at the site of Accident in Nalamala Hills, and develop it as tourist Point, in remembrance of YSR and as a mark of respect for YSR for his Service to the Poor and the people of the state.
